Does this have anything to do with distributed ledgers? Not really — although many of the batch companies are indeed using blockchain technologies.
Instead, the distributed demo day is all about letting founders distribute themselves throughout four industry panels in the areas of marketing, content, transportation, and the blockchain. Starta organizes the panels and brings in outside speakers, but the conversations and problems to be raised are real and unscripted.
According to Starta Ventures CEO, Ekaterina Dorozhkina, “We encourage and empower our startups to communicate in a way that best fits their business model, and allow them to be themselves within their industry.” It is for this reason, she believes, that Starta should take a hands-off approach and not dictate anything about the specifics of its portfolio companies’ pitches and discussions within the panels.
Rather than listening to a series of startup infomercials, you get an opportunity to attend a cutting-edge tech conference, with lively discussions, industry experts, and insider access to the hottest trends in tech and the startups behind them.
Founders and industry thought-leaders on each of the four panels can discuss problems in their respective industries and the potential solutions being offered within the Starta portfolio.
